Modeling our lives together after Jesus
for the sake of the world

Closing

Our sojourn as a community of faith has come to and end. We have banded together to explore the kingdom of God breaking in around us in the North Tarrant County area. We have seen God at work in our lives and in those around us. We have seen people drawn in closer relationship with the Lord. We have been able to be the hands and arms of Christ to those in need. And for this we say thanks be to God!

Sojourn

image from flickrWe believe that a church name is more than just something on letterhead, a sign, or a t-shirt. A church name--for us--taps into our identity, who we are, as well as what we're about. Sojourn. It's a word picture. It means a temporary stay, a rest. The life in this world we find ourselves in is a sojourn. There is more to this world than living and dying. And even though it's as long as the blink of an eye in terms of how long the world has existed, we see that this is just the beginning of a life that awaits us.

Sojourn also seems to have a more obscure definition. It seems to point to a trip, or travel, a journey. While we are in a temporary place called Earth, we are on a journey, a sojourn, if you will. All of us are on a journey, whether we know it or not. We are a people who find ourselves in the greatest sojourn ever to exist--a journey into God's love and beauty. Come sojourn with us. The path we travel is an ancient one; it's been traveled for centuries. We join with those who have gone before us and follow in their footstepsas we follow the One who blazed the trail in the beginning, Jesus the Christ. Won't you sojourn with us?
